Deborah presents a diverse range of TV programming from anchoring Regional and Breakfast News to writing and presenting Travel, Tourism, Consumer and Property shows. Deborah’s radio work includes a new weekly Sunday afternoon series, ‘In the Bag’ for Premier Radio, contributing weekly to BBC Radio Manchester’s ‘Sunday Breakfast’ and regularly writing/presenting for BBC Radio 2’ Pause for Thought’. Deborah is also an experienced speaker and event facilitator and has gained a reputation for being an inspiring and motivational speaker. Prior to broadcasting, Deborah’s story is without doubt quite unusual and fascinating. Born in the West Midlands in April 1970, she grew up and was educated in Solihull. As a child, she attended Birmingham Theatre School, taking part in a number of productions and cameo parts for TV. On completing her “A” level studies, she lived in Newcastle upon Tyne for a year working voluntarily with the Deaf Association and teaching sign language. In 1988 at the age of eighteen, Deborah entered the religious order of the “Daughters of St. Paul”, an order that works in the media, and was sent to Rome for her formation programme and studies. During that time, she wrote and presented for Radio (in Italian and English) and as a young Sister returning to London, Deborah researched, wrote and presented for BBC Radio 2’s “Pause for Thought”. Some other programmes included, “Just a Moment” and “Stand Up and Be Counted”. Whilst Deborah felt strongly that her years as a Sister were a ‘meant to be experience’ and a preparation for what life had in store for her, she took the brave step of leaving the convent in 1994. Keen to live a meaningful and fulfilling life but without the habit! Deborah then started working in Charitable Fundraising, PR and Freelance Broadcasting, working at home and abroad for a number of charities implementing ambitious, high profile voluntary income plans, PR and Marketing campaigns. After a number of successful years in Communications and Fundraising in 2004 Deborah decided to dedicate her time exclusively to broadcasting, writing and speaking. Deborah’s interest in property began as something of a hobby and she has in her spare time! developed and renovated a number of houses and has a particular passion for period property especially of the Victorian and Edwardian era. To give her greater insight and experience when writing for property programmes, Deborah has worked as an estate agent and valuer. Deborah lives in the Derbyshire High Peak, is married to Stuart, has two children, Isabella and Joseph and one mad Cocker Spaniel called Polly! |
